Carly is a proud member of the Kainai Nation located in southern Alberta and is the founder and principal of Fox LLP.
As an experienced legal advisor to First Nations governments and organizations in Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, Carly is committed to providing quality legal advice to support her clients in the development and implementation of their laws, jurisdiction, and Treaty rights.
Carly provides strategic legal advice to clients in negotiations with the federal and provincial governments and the development and analysis of various policies and legislation. She is particularly passionate about advocating for substantive equality for First Nations citizens and the recognition of First Nations inherent rights.
Throughout her career, Carly has represented First Nations in advancing and resolving their historical claims under Canada’s Specific Claims Policy. She represents clients in the research, negotiation and litigation of specific claims, including treaty land entitlement, treaty benefits, unlawful surrenders, misadministration of trust funds, and reserve land expropriations.
She has represented her clients in various administrative tribunals and courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada.
